Setting up REVA Kids

This page is for the grown-up holding the device. It is the address printed inside the app, behind the question mark on the code screen.

Before you start

REVA Kids is the child's half of REVA Bible Companion. On its own it has nothing to show: the lessons, the points and the rewards are all made in REVA on a parent's own phone. If nobody in your family has REVA yet, that is step one.

Both apps are free, and neither has anything for a child to buy.

Five steps

  1. Install REVA Bible Companion on your own phone

Install it and sign in. On your phone, not your child's: that device is the child's half, and the parent app does nothing there. REVA Kids has nothing to show until you send it something.

  2. Open Social › Family and tap Add a kid

You need their first name and birth year. The birth year sets the reading band their questions are written for, so a five year old and an eleven year old get the same lesson in their own words.

  3. On your child's row, tap the tablet icon

It is labelled Set up REVA Kids. Each child has their own, because a pairing code belongs to one child.

  4. Tap Set up a device

REVA asks you to confirm that you are that child's parent or guardian. That confirmation is what lets a code be made, and it is recorded.

  5. Type the eight characters on your child's device

Open REVA Kids there, type the code on the keypad, and tap Open my stories. The code lasts ten minutes.

If the code will not work

  • A code lasts ten minutes. After that, tap Set up a device again for a new one.
  • Only one code is live per child. Making a new one cancels the last, so if two people are trying at once, the older code stops working.
  • A code never contains I, L, O or U. A character that looks like one of those is a digit.
  • The keypad on the code screen shows every character a code can contain. If what you are holding is not on that keypad, you are reading the family invite code, which is a different code for a different job.
  • Each child has their own code, and a code only pairs the child it was made for.

After it is paired

What happens next.

Everything a parent decides stays in REVA Bible Companion. Your child's device shows what you sent.

Sending a lesson
Write one from a passage or a topic, add a ready-made one from the free library, or ask NAVI to draft one. Set what finishing it is worth, then send it.
If your child's reading level has no questions
A lesson can only be sent to a child when it has questions at their own reading level. When it does not, REVA offers to write that one level rather than building the whole lesson again.
Rewards
You write each reward and its price. Your child asks, you approve, and that is when the points are spent. Your child is told the answer in their own app.
Taking a device off the family
Remove it from the same Set up REVA Kids sheet. The child's copy is wiped the next time they open the app.
